Raise A Red Flag Community Day

  • Time: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM
  • Location: Student Commons, Pembroke Waterfront Campus
  • Campus: Pembroke
  • Fee: FREE
Raise a Red Flag is a student-led initiative driven by a passion for the mental health of our community. Our Office Administration—Executive students are partnering with the Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre for an awareness campaign, combined with a fundraising initiative and a sustainable revenue stream.

Join our group of passionate students in their crusade to educate and destigmatize mental health, and attend our Raise a Red Flag Community Day on Saturday, April 27 between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Algonquin College, Pembroke Campus.  This event is intended to bring the community together for a Raise a Red Flag community photo op, community walk on the Kiwanis Way, along the shore of the Ottawa River and college grounds, and information sharing with vendors and booths including family and children’s activities focussing on wellness and education. Free admission to everyone!

All funds raised will go directly to the Robbie Dean Centre, an invaluable organization in the Ottawa Valley. To date over $1,400 has been raised through a Trivia Night, a Bake Sale, and donations from the Raise A Red Flag bracelets.  The organization offers suicide prevention, personal violence recovery groups, grief and loss support programs, crisis and distress clinics, and so much more. If you are unfamiliar with the services offered by the Robbie Dean Centre, you can visit their website or Facebook/Instagram pages.

Check out their Raise a Red Flag FB page to learn more about this student-led campaign.

Not only does this group intend to raise awareness for mental illness, they also want to encourage community members to understand the importance of mental health overall. Join them in their crusade to educate and destigmatize!
