Algonquin College Celebrates: World Water Day

World Water Day is an annual United Nations observance day that highlights the importance of freshwater and advocates for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Registrants will be invited to partake in a Water Ceremony, engage with two guest speakers, browse sustainability-related resources and create a bio-degradable 3D snowflake unique to a date of birth. Water is a natural resource that not only sustains communities, but unites individuals through food and drink. Participants will also have the opportunity to rejoice by enjoying a hot bowl of Three Sisters Soup. There are many stories about the Three Sisters in woodland Indigenous cultures. While the details of these stories differ from nation to nation, there is almost always one shared common thread that weaves them together.

Schedule of Events (please note that this event takes place on two separate floors):

1) 3rd floor of DARE District (C Building) in Kejeyadizidgigwogamig (Knowledge Keepers Space)
11:45AM Josie Whiteduck, Indigenous Elder, will be hosting a Water Ceremony

2) 2nd floor of DARE District (C Building) in front of Pidaban
