May 27, 2021
As we prepare for the upcoming Spring Convocation, we are pleased to highlight our valedictorians who will be speaking to their respective classes during their ceremonies.

Today we feature Vera Wilson Ogbeide - graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, Algonquin College Pembroke Campus

What is your favorite memory from your time at Algonquin College?
My favorite memory from my time at Algonquin College is hosting the African Students’ Alliance (A.S.A) Taste of Africa event during Black History Month. Introducing the Algonquin community to the flavor’s, fashion and, cultures that come from the African continent in such an exciting way brought me a lot of joy.

What made your experience at Algonquin College authentic?
Being president and a club member of African Student Alliance (A.S.A). I felt that in was part of a club that brought together people who shared the similar struggles, experiences, and goals. It was a little home away from home.

What advice do you have for fellow graduates?
This is just the beginning, so enjoy the journey and create a life you can be proud of.

What advice do you have for future students?
They are going to be hills and valleys, you don’t have to know everything, but be willing to listen, learn and adapt.
