RFP issued for student information system (SIS)
October 25, 2019
Today marks an important milestone in our now three-year journey: This morning we issued a request for proposal (RFP) asking that interested companies outline and submit their proposed solution for an on-demand Software-as-a-Service SIS.
How did we get here?
We developed an understanding of what you and your colleagues may do in GeneSIS through dozens of requirements-gathering workshops and other interactions. These sessions involved more than 250 employees and almost 2,000 students. Our business analysts documented what they heard and, following Board of Governors approval in February to issue an RFP, consulting firm Gartner joined the effort. Their advice and guidance and that of a cross-College working group and College Procurement allowed us to finalize the requirements and issue the RFP.
What’s next?
Companies have about two months to submit their proposals, with an evaluation period to follow. A recommended solution will be presented to the Board in April, when we will seek funds to proceed with the first stage of the project. Meanwhile, other foundational work is also underway, including the important work of documenting as-is business processes—that is how you carry out your day-to-day activities.
As we move forward on this project, you will be receiving regular updates, including via myAC, a dedicated SIS website that’s under development, huddle cascades, and video messages. We are also launching our monthly Speak Up! SIS Sessions on Oct. 28, and all employees are invited to attend to hear more about the project, give feedback, and ask questions. Sign up here if you haven’t already!
