March 21, 2019
Algonquin College celebrated its dedicated employers and talented students at its 2nd annual Co-op Awards of Excellence.

"This is an exciting time as our College continues to grow our co-op presence in Ontario and Canada — together with our talented co-op students, our very skilled faculty, and employer partners," said President Cheryl Jensen, speaking at the Thursday event.

Natacha Lemay-Reaume, Regional Vice-President at RBC, Ottawa West and Valley Market, also spoke to open the Awards. She discussed the bank's partnership with the College on a dedicated peer-to-peer co-op mentorship program.

"We are proud of the connection we have," she said. "Algonquin College is clearly a leader in co-op and experiential learning opportunities."

Cheryl stressed how important co-op experiences are for our students and how useful they are for employers. "I'm a true believer in co-op," she said, adding the Co-Op Awards mark a time "to celebrate the accomplishments of our talented Algonquin College co-op students, and the commitment of some of our most dedicated employers."
