Sign up to be a volunteer for the Here2Help info booths!

December 15, 2015
Staff and faculty are encouraged to sign up for two-hour shifts at the Here2Help info booths that will be located around campus on January 8 and January 11 to 15. These info booths are essential to helping students feel comfortable on campus during their first week of school. (Please note, each booth will be staffed with two people, maximum.)

Register for your shift here (you can also review/make changes to your shift using this link): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19FWDraN2LAR7d60gNXCVXHCAmLBMYI8W1BZKIX2Vsi8/edit?pli=1#gid=0

Volunteers who took part in the September Here2Help campaign are asked to wear the green Here2Help T-shirt they received. New volunteers can pick up a T-shirt from the AC Hub (2nd floor, Student Commons) from Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm. Please note, quantities and sizes are limited.

INFO FOR VOLUNTEERS:

To best serve our students, each Here2Help info booth will be equipped with the following:

1) Resource Manuals. Each manual provides essential student FAQs (General, Registration, Financial Aid & Student Awards, U-Pass, etc.), information pertaining to the new AC WayFinder website, important dates and deadlines, emergency information, and a notes section (intended for volunteers to record any questions that come their way that may not be featured in the manual, or suggestions for future Resource Manual content).

2) Maps of Ottawa campus. Maps are a very popular item during the first two weeks of term! If your booth is running low on campus maps, please contact Dan Cuddy (ext. 5522) to have more dispensed to your location.

3) Paper and pens. Writing down directions, contact numbers, important dates, or websites can be a valuable asset for our students to take away from the Here2Help information booths.

4) The Algonquin College WayFinder website is an interactive mapping tool of Ottawa campus to assist students, employees, and visitors! Users can define their destination by entering the desired room number, or by selecting from a Points of Interest drop-down list. This is the ultimate resource for on-campus navigation! Check it out for yourself here: http://lyceum.algonquincollege.com/wayfinder

5) Friendly and helpful volunteers! If there is more than one volunteer at any of the information booths, please consider assisting students to their destination (i.e. walking with them) when/if possible.

Many thanks for volunteering your time to welcome our students!
