Algonquin, Nipissing University sign agreement to support indigenous students

The agreement means Algonquin and Nipissing will explore opportunities to collaborate on the creation of pathways for indigenous students who want to pursue a diploma and a degree.
The focus is on the School of Business, the Faculty of Health, Public Safety and Community Studies, Applied Research and Innovation, the Institute for Indigenous Entrepreneurship and the Algonquin College Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IgniteAC).
The signing took place immediately following the Future of Health and Wellness Speaker Series event, at which DeGagné was the guest speaker.

Algonquin College-Nipissing University Agreement
OTTAWA — Today the President of Algonquin College, Cheryl Jensen, and the President of Nipissing University, Dr. Mike DeGagné, signed an important Letter of Intent that supports opportunities for Indigenous students at both institutions.
“I am very proud to collaborate with Nipissing University in this worthy partnership,” said Jensen. “Algonquin College is committed to offering our many Indigenous students a cutting-edge student experience that will provide them with innovative pathways and opportunities for success. This partnership builds on the very successful pathways we currently have with Nipissing University.”
The agreement, which was signed at Algonquin College’s Ottawa campus, allows both schools to explore opportunities for collaboration to create new pathways Indigenous students interested in obtaining both a diploma and a degree. Specifically, it outlines a focus on the following program areas and departments:
• The School of Business
• Faculty of Health, Public Safety, and Community Studies
• Applied Research and Innovation
• The Institute for Indigenous Entrepreneurship
• The Algonquin College Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IgniteAC)
The
agreement takes effect immediately and will remain in place for three years before it must be renewed.
