B-ME Business Plan Competition 2017

April 26, 2017
Tuesday’s final Business Management and Entrepreneurship (B-ME) Program course, Business Plan Applied’s summative Business Plan Competition, brought together the winners from each of the four course sections to pitch their ideas to a panel of industry judges.

Ideas ranged from pest control and energy to social enterprise and new media. Over the course of two hours, the finalists presented their ideas and and answered judges Q & A.

The end result was Unearthed Cafe ~ a social enterprise ~winning with a strong Value Proposition and business model aimed squarely at addressing a defined market need. Second place went to Bed Bug Safe Consulting and Jake’s Energy Solutions in third. Fourth place went to new media company Espree.

Overall the Event showcased the best of the Level 4 graduating class’ business plans in S-ME studies and afforded a platform from which to pitch to the marketplace. Additionally, the Event, emcee’ed by a program learner, afforded an additional opportunity to showcase presentation excellence in a competitive environment: this last point was no small accomplishment given the branding of the Event and attendance nearing 80 registered off Eventbrite!

Special thanks to our Industry Judges and learner coordinators of the event. Faculty representing the course and finalists were additionally supported by the School of Business Chair of Marketing and Management Studies. The success of the event is a continuation of the foundation built over the past several years: next year’s event will continue this tradition!
