LMS Weekly Update: Feature Comparison and Training Info

We have had a number of questions asking about the similarities between Blackboard, Canvas, and Brightspace, and questioning what differences faculty will encounter when using the new system.
 
We have put together the following resources, one for Blackboard, and one for Canvas, which highlights what similarities you can expect when migrating to Brightspace. These pages also contain a number of instructional videos from Brightspace that outline how these features work, and help ease the migration process.
 
We have also had questions regarding the current training schedule for faculty who wish to get hands on experience with the system. Here are some pieces of information regarding scheduled training:
 

• All faculty/facilitators teaching with Brightspace in the spring semester have been invited to participate in training. All other Faculty training for Brightspace will take place this May/June.
• We invite Chairs/Managers/Program Coordinators to immediately book group sessions with the training team by contacting Farbod Karimi at karimif@algonquincollege.com or Jay Smith at smithj4@algonquincollege.com.
• Registration opens on April 30, 2018 for other training opportunities. Check our website for more information to come.

We have also sent out a survey to all students looking for potential Brightspace Ambassadors, to assist with the migration process. If you know any student who may be interested in this role, please direct them to the survey in their email.
