AC wins three Prix D'Excellence awards at CCAE conference

The College earned a silver medal in the Media Relations category for CBC's interactive campus radio tour featuring host Giacomo Panico. In 2017, the College's Communications team arranged for Panico to take a hands-on, immersive approach to learning the many ways our students prepare for their careers.
The College earned a bronze media in the Best Student and/or Young Alumni Initiative category for the DSW Cooperative. In November, four Developmental Services Workers (DSW) and Algonquin graduates -- Claire Maxwell, Elisabeth Van Kooy, Dawn Tait, and Lisa Murray -- won a major Colleges Ontario prize. Their unique health initiative, worker-owned cooperative to provide high-quality, person-directed support to community members who have developmental disabilities, took first place in the $15,000 William G. Davis Innovation Fund contest. The group is preparing to officially launch their service this summer.
Algonquin also took bronze in the category for Best Photograph: “Ashley,” a photograph of student Ashley Cardinell by Algonquin's Chris McFarlane (see top right). The photo was published in A Guide To Your Future, the annual viewbook for Algonquin College, written and published by Algonquin College’s Department of Communications, Marketing, and External Relations. The 2018 viewbook is meant to highlight how Algonquin College helps our existing learners to ‘Change’ either themselves or the community as a whole.
Algonquin was among the most nominated institutions — among only nine that received three or more nods. CCAE's membership includes 132 educational institutions.
