LMS Weekly Update: Brightspace student survey elicits favourable response

Students in 12 Spring 2018 courses were surveyed recently about their experience with Brightspace. The most frequently highlighted feature of the College’s Learning Management System (LMS) was its ease of use.
“I found it well organized and easy to find everything I was looking for,” wrote one of the survey respondents. “I also really like how in the grades section it shows where you stand in the class by calculating all your grades.”
Fully 96% of the survey participants said they knew where to find their grades in Brightspace; 98% knew how to upload and submit their assignments.
Other features identified as positive contributions to the student experience included the Brightspace Essentials for Students tutorial, the “slick design”, the “easily done” quizzes, notifications, and the way the LMS keeps track of students’ progress through course material.
“Everything is so easy on Brightspace,” noted one student. “It just makes your college experience more exciting.”
Survey participants also suggested improvements and new features that might be added to the site. These are being reviewed by the LMS team in cooperation with Brightspace creator D2L and will be considered for inclusion in future updates.
